The Barossa Valley starts 50 kilometres east of Adelaide at Gawler and continues for 40 kilometres to Stockwell and Truro, further east. It encompasses the Towns of Tanunda, Nurioopta, Gawler, Angaston, and Lyndoch and a few smaller towns set in the beautiful and picturesque rolling valleys of  the Adelaide Hills.
 
The early German settlers first recognised the suitability of the climate and soil to the production of wine grapes. Today the Barossa Valley is one of the world's major producers of fine table wines and there are dozens of wineries creating varied products for you to sample.

Also steeped in history the Barossa offers quaint villages with tree-lined streets and historic stone cottages seem to be everywhere and a drive or walk through them is like a trip back in time to early settlement. There are some of the best in Australias places to stay, particularly BnB's and hosted accommodation. This is one of the most beautiful parts of South Australia.

The Clare Valley is located 137km north east of Adelaide on the Main North Road (83) off the Barrier Highway to Broken Hill. It is between Adelaide and Peterborough. Clare is a major wine producing area and here lies some of the states most beautiful wineries - yours for the tasting! Like the Barossa - the Clare Valley also offers many place to stay for those not wanting to take the trip back to Adelaide after a winery tasting or two! 

70km south of Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula lies Mclaren Vale producing much of the states internationally aclaimed wines.

There are more than 40 wineries in the district with most open 7 days for tastings and cellar door sales, quality accommodation and restaurants provide for the many visitors to the region each year.
